• Administration and enforcement of the Merchant Shipping Act 2001
• To develop the shipping and to ensure that the country's maritime activities are conduced in accordance with the local and international standards of maritime safety and pollution prevention

INTERNATIONAL NAVAL SUREVEYS BUREAU
I.N.S.B. was founded in 1980 by Naval Architects as well as Marine Engineers at Piraeus, Greece, under the form of S.A. as a Classification Society, strictly defined by its constitutional document.

The mission of I.N.S.B. - adopted by its establishers - composed the edge of its activities, worldwide, focused serve the public interest as well as the needs of its clients by promoting the security life, property and by preventing the pollution of the natural environment.
ORGANISATION & MANAGEMENT
I.N.S.B. classification services are in whole performed by its several representation and subsidiaries offices. The income derived from these activities is generated from fees for its services. All funds are solely including their improvement, as well as for research and development programs.

To this effect, I.N.S.B. was awarded certification to the ISO 9001 and ISO 9002, Quality Management Standards respectively.
These Certification Documents that the I.N.S.B. conforms the International Standard requirements through the effective implementation of quality procedures and work instruction as well as through concentration on a quality education program for all of its people.
CLASSIFICATION WORK
Expertise in Classification is carried out according to the principles verified by international practice, consisting in the application of technical requirements concerning the ships Hull, Machinery and her equipment, as well as monitoring compliance with these requirements by regular surveys. Design and Construction requirements, the scope of tests and surveys are defined by the rules for ship Classification and Construction, with are in line with the IACS unified interpretation. I.N.S.B. confirms compliance with these requirements by issuing a certificate of Class and by entering into its Register of Ships.
NETWORK
I.N.S.B.´s activities require a worldwide network. Today the society is represented in all the major ports of the world. More than 250 surveyors work for I.N.S.B. in Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia and the Americas - whenever ships are being built, repaired or operated. Our surveyors are highly - trained professionals who apply their experience and knowledge to meet clients needs promptly and suitably through an extensive network of survey offices in major ports around the world.
GOVERNMENTAL AUTHORISATIONS AND STATUTORY SCHEME
A large number of Governments have recognized the professional integrity and its international capacity by entrusting the I.N.S.B. to conduct surveys and issue the respective statutory certificates in accordance with the IMO International Convention as well as various National maritime legislation. Through this long lasting relationship with the several Maritime Administrations, I.N.S.B. has acquired a comprehensive knowledge of national and international maritime regulations. The Society is registered in the IMO as an Official auditing body to carry out ISM code surveys and to issue the relevant D.O.C. and S.M.C. certificates
